Unlike iPhone , taking screenshots is little hard on  Android, you have to root your android phone to gain access to take screen shots from your phone. There are some alternate methods to take screenshots on android phones like using SDK or some softwares.

But this is going to be simple with android OS 2.3.3. They have introduced new API to use it functionality. Now no more root access is required to take screen shots. Now the third party apps has to work with the new API to make their app better for Android OS 2.3.3.
